My Mesmer's name originated from the name of my Sorceress from Diablo II which evolved later into a D&D NPC name and then became my Mesmer.
My first mesmer was named Prince Shadeem, then my remade as Crystal Cobra, then later Was renamed to Vesstra Alhoon (Mindflayers FTW) and fit with being a Mesmer, and then I settled on my current Mesmer being named Empress Majina.
Originally, my Diablo II Sorceress was named Majaraja. It was a mispelled name no less -_-. I wanted to type MaHaraja...but instead of the H, i typed a J...probably thinking in Spanish Mode as I was taking Spanish class in High School at the time and a J = h sound. So She was Majaraja.
Then in my D&D campaign, I had the Crown Prince Raja Rajasa and his mother Empress Maja Rajasa.
Rajasa eventually evolved to Rashiva (my family name for my GW Characters)
The men get full names, while the females get Royal titles (except my beta ele)
Shadeem Rashiva - (Ritualist - Shadeem spelled differently means "100" in a language I created for a sci-fi/fantasy story/game i've been developing since 1997)
Nazja Rashiva - (Assassin - name came from the concept BMW car called the "Nazca". Since i'm learning Turkish, a C is pronounced as a J - thus Nazja)
Vishir Rashiva - (Ranger - the name vishir is the name from my sci-fi/fantasy story of a being with earthen/naturey powers...which was inspired by the doctor from Star Trek Deep Space 9 - Doctor Julian Bashir...Bashir-Vishir)
Aurelia Aurita (Beta Elementalist - still alive and kicking ^_^ - Name is the scientific name of the Moon Jellyfish as she was originally created to specialize in Water Magic and Jellyfish are composed of like 95% water or more.)
Empress Majina - (Mesmer - Majina formed from a hybid of Maja and a misheard name from the PS2 game, Primal - some female aquatic creature was trapped and you had to free her. I heard my lil gargoyle thing say her name was "Ma'ina" which I believe was wrong and was like Marina or something. So I merged Maja and Ma'ina = Majina)
Empress Natalya - (Elementalist - inspired from my old Diablo II Assassin "Ya_Raya" who had Full Natalya's Set)
Queen Taiia - (Paragon...deriving from the D&D Goddess - Taiia...a solar deity - the only deity i've seen to have Divine Rank 20. Zeus and Ra have 19 - Supposed to be the Creator Aspect)
Goddess Taiia - (Dervish...the Destroyer Aspect of Taiia)
Queen Lolth - (Necro...deriving from the D&D Goddess - Lolth...and she looks positively demonic & drowtastic ^_^)
Queen Aurina - (Monk...made from hybridizing "Aurelia" & "Majina" = Aurina)
Valsharess Rashiva - (Warrior...in RP, she's a Yochlol shapeshifted to resemble a common Sun Lover (non drow) to infiltrate the Rashivan Dynasty lead to spread Lolth's influence while the Rashivan's have called upon Taiia to protect them.....as Valsharess is a common noble drow title.)

The image that came to my mind when I was reading the description of a mesmer was a con artist, so I sticked with that name. Although I'm not sure if that was a good idea, because I can't really buy/sell items on him :P

Well, I based my mesmer names on how I saw the class. To me, a mesmer is a stuck up, high and mighty actor. And Max Frond was a name given to me by my brother a long time ago, and I thought it would suit a mesmer perfectly. My other mesmer's name, Clara Von Fricken, I found while my mum was flicking through one of her music history books and read out the name.

Dark Priest Shaft.
Yeah, call it copout from Castlevania SOTN. Considering I run him as a Me/N most of the time, it worked.

I named mine Arcanis after the Magic the Gathering Card Arcanis the Omnipotent.
A wizard renowned in knowing every spell ever written.
Imperium is for the royalty look of the Mesmers.

Father Hypnos
Wanted to sound powerful and have some meaning...
In Greek mythology, Hypnos was the personification of sleep. His twin was Thanatos ("death"); their mother was the goddess Nyx ("night").
Sleeping to me has alot of meanings... turning ppl off, shutting them down, rendering them useless, and of course killing them...
My mesmer puts alot of ppl to sleep....

I usually put quite a bit of thought into my characters names. For my Mesmer I used the King Arthur legend for Inspiration .
Morgan Le Fay was the half-sister of King Arthur, and also a which.
So, my Mesmer/Ele is Morgana Trollslayer.
Trollslayer is a family name.

Malinium: the word "Malin" is a french word which means clever (or something like that), knowing mesmers are tricky to "play" with their target. "ium"... well, I listened Lilium thats all.
Iphisis: I wanted an "old egyptian" style with "sis" at the end. For a tyrian, he isnt an egyptian look but I liked the name thought, and Iphisis came out.
Malinium Iphisis is his name.

Cerebral Orgazm. It isn't classy but it made me laugh. My guild mates are happy with it, so I guess it worked out.
